Importance of travel If more people travelled the world, it would help break down the barriers and reduce the prejudices and ignorance that exists today. It would open up people's mind and make them realise that despite all the stereotypes that are perpetrated by society and the media, people are people and people, the world over, share the same common decency. By way of example, I was recently in Muscat, Oman a muslim country that borders Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates & Yemen. We went to a pub in one of the few Western hotels - the place was full of locals hanging out, watching sport on the big screens and playing pool. I felt like I could have been in a bar in London, New York or Sydney - not a muslim country where alcohol was banned. I was quickly challenged to a game of pool and other than for the fact that the majority of people were wearing arab-style robes I could have been at a pub on a Friday night at home. Oman's a beautiful, safe country that's highly recommended for a visit. Check out a couple of photos of the Grand Mosque in Muscat in the link below.
